Gap Project, Bridging Your Energy Gap

Loft Insulation Grants and Installation

Heat rises, and an under-insulated loft lets a lot of it escape. Insulating your loft is one of the simplest ways to keep a home warmer. Many households can get this work funded through a government scheme. If you cannot, our prices start from £150.

Can I get a loft insulation grant?

Loft insulation is one of the upgrades that ECO4 can fund. ECO4 is paid for by energy suppliers and runs until 31 December 2026. You may qualify if:

  • You receive a qualifying benefit such as Universal Credit or Pension Credit, or
  • You do not receive benefits, but your council refers you through LA Flex because of a low household income or a health condition made worse by cold, and
  • Your home has an EPC rating of D to G if you own it, or E to G if you rent privately and have your landlord’s permission.

The Great British Insulation Scheme, which also paid for loft insulation, closed on 31 March 2026. If a website still says it is open, the information is out of date.

Read our ECO4 guide for the full rules, or press "Check if I qualify" and we will check for you.

What if I do not qualify?

Then you pay a clear price, agreed before any work starts. Here is a guide to what our loft work costs:

Loft top-up (adding to existing insulation)From £150
Full loft insulation£450 to £1,100
Loft boardingFrom £400

Your exact price depends on the size of your loft and what is already there. We confirm it in your quote, which is free and comes with no obligation.

How we insulate your loft

  • We install to a depth of 270mm, which is the standard we work to.
  • We lay the insulation using a cross-layer method.
  • We start with a free home survey, so we can see what your loft needs.
  • We tell you how long the job will take at the survey, so you can plan around it.

Insulation first, then everything else

A well-insulated home needs less heat, which means a smaller heating system can do the job. That is why we suggest sorting your insulation before you replace a boiler or add a heat pump or solar panels. If you want to look at other options, see our SuperFOIL insulation page or our heat pump page.
