Who can get the EV charger grant?
There are two routes to a home charger grant, both worth up to £500. The first is open to renters in any residential property and to people who own and live in a flat, and it needs private off-street parking. The second is for households with on-street parking only who are fitting a cross-pavement solution such as a charging gully, and that route is open to owners as well as renters. Landlords can claim up to £500 per socket under a separate scheme.
If you own a house with a driveway, you won’t qualify for either, even though many customers assume they will. We’re upfront about this before you book a survey, so there are no surprises. These rates run until 31 March 2027. If you don’t qualify we still fit the same smart chargers, with flexible finance available.

Do I need off-street parking?
For a home installation, yes. The charge point must be sited so the cable does not cross a public footpath.
Will my consumer unit need upgrading?
Sometimes. We check the incoming supply, earthing arrangement and spare capacity during the survey and quote for any work needed.
How long does installation take?
Most installations are completed in three to four hours, including testing and handover.
Can I charge cheaply overnight?
Yes. Smart chargers schedule charging to off-peak hours, which is where most of the running cost saving comes from.
Are grants available?
Grants exist for renters, flat owners and workplaces. We confirm current eligibility when we quote.
